Year 2
Welcome to the Year 2 page.
This year, we aim to have an enjoyable year before your child moves to KS2.
The year will consist of vibrant and engaging learning to enable children to become critical thinkers in all areas of life. Throughout the year, we will encourage your children to become more independent and explore their own creativity. Children will have the opportunity to explore during lessons by asking questions and using their problem solving skills to find answers.
Through the English curriculum, we will help children develop the skills and knowledge that will enable them to communicate effectively and creatively through spoken and written language and equip them with the skills to become lifelong learners. Children will still use Little Wandle to consolidate their reading skills from Year 1. So they will read with greater fluency and overall, enjoy reading. Additionally, Children will have the opportunity to borrow library books every week based on their interests to either, read by themselves or with family at home.
As mathematicians we will use our mathematical knowledge to solve problems and find different number patterns. We will continue to challenge children to use these skills so they can have a deeper understanding of numbers.
