Year 2 have had a fantastic first term returning to Linton Mead. We are so proud of the resilience and determination they have displayed whilst settling in to the new school routine.
In English, we focused on the book ‘The Night Gardener’ by the Fan Brothers, which allowed the children to delve into the mind of the main character ‘William’ culminating in diary entries and poetry based on their own secret garden. They performed their poems to their peers with confidence.
Our budding mathematicians spent time developing their place value skills using dienes, which will give them a head start in the addition and subtraction topic this coming term, and we started our scientific journey into habitats and what constitutes a living thing.
Our fantastic children have shown their acting skills in History with a retelling of The Gunpowder Plot; celebrated returning to school in RE; created moving vehicles in DT and performed a dance routine with their peers in PE.
Whilst it has been a hectic term, full of change and new beginnings, we are very much looking forward to seeing the growth in knowledge and independence of each individual over the next coming 7 weeks!
Below, you see what we will be learning this half-term, as well as some activities you can be doing at home.
